The Steyr THB is one of our most popular precision rifles available in both .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor. As with all Steyr bolt-action rifles, we guarantee sub-MOA or less. The Steyr THB (Tactical Heavy Barrel) brings the 6.5 Creedmoor cartridge to the platform for long-range shooters and competitors.
The 6.5 CDM comes standard with a green, glass-reinforced polymer, ventilated stock that is weather-resistant and exceptionally durable, and the .308 Win. comes standard with a black synthetic stock. Both standard stocks include removable spacers for an adjustable length of pull. The .308 Win. has a cold-hammer forged barrel lengths available in options of 16”, 20”, or 26” with Mannox finish and a twist rate of 1:8. The 6.5 version comes standard with a 26" barrel length with 1:8 rifling to maximize the potential of 6.5 Creedmoor loads. All barrel lengths come with 5/8x24 right-hand thread and a 20MOA Picatinny rail. Long Picatinny rail options and additional stock options are also available. The barrel retains Steyr’s signature swirl pattern, which is a unique and attractive byproduct of the hammer forging process. The muzzles of each barrel are threaded to accept muzzle brakes or suppressors with a 5/8x24 RH thread pitch, and a thread protector is included. The THB measures 45.6 inches overall (47 inches with the Manners stock) and it weighs 9.3 pounds (10.5 pounds with Manners stock), empty. It comes standard with a round tactical bolt handle, but Steyr’s slim “butter-knife” bolt handle is also available from the factory.
As with other high-performance rifles offered by Steyr, the THB features the Safe Bolt System (SBS) bolt-action receiver perfectly mated to a heavy profile with its unique 2+1 safety system that offers 3 settings operated by a wheel switch on the tang of the stock. The fire mode (safety off) is indicated by a red dot; the first level of safe mode disables the firing mechanism and the second level of safe serves to lock the bolt down against the stock and also features a press-to-release tab that locks the SBS switch in the safe position. With it’s match-quality single-stage trigger system, the THB barreled-action is virtually identical to that of Steyr’s high-end, long-range tactical rifles.
The THB is fed via Steyr’s proprietary 5-round, double-stack, polymer magazine, which features a 2-stage magazine securing mechanism. The first stage locks the magazine in but allows the bolt to be operated while not engaging and chambering the rounds in the magazine, thereby providing the operator with the option of loading individual rounds by hand while maintaining a full magazine at the ready. One more tap to the bottom of the magazine then seats it in the second stage making it ready for auto-loading. An optional 10-round magazine and adapter kit is also available.
As with all Steyr center-fire bolt-action rifles, the Steyr THB is part of the Steyr Elite Experience that provides the purchaser an unconditional 1 MOA guarantee, a limited lifetime warranty and a free world-class training course at the Steyr Academy ($650 value).

MANNERS STOCK Upgrade
Steyr Arms USA has partnered with Manners Composite Stocks (MCS) to create a new variant of THB rifle, a Steyr exclusive, designed to meet the needs of law enforcement and precision rifle shooters. Steyr and Manners worked together to create a highly optioned composite tactical stock that is mated to the exceptionally accurate THB barreled action. The stock is built around the CNC-machined aluminum MCS Mini Chassis System that offers supreme repeatability and solid aluminum trigger guard for durability. The magwell accepts standard Steyr four-round magazines or 10-round magazines with the optional Steyr adapter kit, is built into the chassis, and offers a solid lock up for magazines and smooth loading. There is also a built-in adjustable comb and adjustable length of pull that can be easily adjusted by adding or removing spacers with Manner’s spacer system. Two flush QD sling swivel cups on the right side as well as a front mounted 20 MOA Picatinny rail for a bipod or tripod come standard with a round tactical bolt handle. The Steyr THB Manners comes with a standard camouflage finish that is molded into the field-grade gel coat; however, additional colors can be special ordered at no charge. Select camouflage patterns can be ordered for an additional cost. The outer shell is constructed of 35-percent carbon fiber and 65-percent fiberglass, hand-laid in multiple layers with high-temperature epoxy resins and then heat cured in a vacuum for the ideal resin-to-fabric ratio.
