The smallest in the Steyr pistol line, the S-A1 is perfect for concealed carry or home defense. What sets it apart from the crowd is its low bore-axis which minimizes recoil and improves control while the ergonomic grip offers optimal control for a variety of hand sizes.
An article from gun-tests.com puts the Steyr S-A1 head to head against CZ-USA’s 2075 RAMI B, and the Glock 43. It was rated a grade A hand gun and a best buy in the category.
The Steyr S-A1 is the best out of the box, but don’t take our word for it. Below are a few of reviews from proud Steyr pistol owners:
“I previously had a 9mm but I wanted to try a 40 Cal. as I have large hands and I was able to purchase the S40-A1 on sale a couple of weeks ago. I started using 180 gr. FMJ then went to 165 gr. JHP both of which produced serious recoil with fps of only 1035 or less. But then I tried a Liberty 40 Cal. 60gr., and an average of 1846 FPS for five rounds and what was amazing was the recoil was less than what I had experienced with my 9mm with a 125 Cal. JHP and larger.
I can't say enough about the S40-A1's flawless action, splendid trigger pull, and accuracy. I have been singing the praises of this weapon to anyone who will listen. Two words I would use to describe it are : FLAWLESS or EXCELLENT.” Steyrarms.com
“…. that’s why when I carry a semiautomatic pistol, it’s a Steyr. I don’t see that changing for a very long time.” Read full review here at grantcunningham.com
